They better not fuck it up!

So the 20th anniversary of the Street fighter 2 is next year. To coincide with this, Capcom is going to release SF 4 for the next gen systems. I am not worried about the game, Capcom has done well by me in the past. The issue at hand is the Street fighter 2 movie that is going to accompany this release to capitalize on the 20th anniversary of the game. Some of you may remember the first live action street fighter movie. Possibly the worst atrocity perpetrated against mankind since the introduction of of mustard gas to armed combat. A movie so bad that those who play the game have stricken it from memory and refuse to speak of it in polite company. If the people in charge of this new movie do not take the appropriate steps to make sure that it is good, then there will be repercussions. Like Jesus wiping away original sin, this new movie will wipe the horror that is the first movie from the collective conscious of a sad and shivering world. This new movie has to be good there is no excuse for failure. The technology is there to do all the moves(do all the fucking moves dickheads don’t skimp and the people will come), the plot is simple ( follow the fucking game numbnuts), and as long as Ryu destroys everything in his path then the movie cannot help but be good. As long as these things happen then Simbelyn does not have to dress like Rambo, travel to the homes of the director and screenwriters , and do such abomination and violence upon them that the will beg for death before he’s done. This was not a threat or a warning but a heartfelt promise. Do not fuck with my street fighter.

  1. Don’t worry. Like FFXIII they’ll fuck it up.

  2. Just want to say something. Ie: they fucked it up.

But honestly, the question of how badly they fucked it up becomes interesting. Now, I’m not curious about absolute levels of fuckupery, of which they attained the ‘Very High’ tier, but as compared to SF2. Is this new one worse?

Initially, I’d say no. I mean, sf2 was bad. REAL bad, and Lo’CL is at least well made. But then there’s the preganant woman/baby scene, which is pretty dreadful, and the fact that this bears at best a cursory resemblance to the source material. Even the good parts of the new one have nothing to do. Bison’s not a bad villian…for an entirely different movie.

My caveat here is that I haven’t finished the new one yet. Still, the old one was campy and terrible. This one is bad and not street fighter.

    Which is worse?
